Make plans to be at GCC on Wednesday nights in July and August as we look at the incredible, gruesome, amazing stories in the book of Judges.  This new Wednesday night study will help you not only understand the Book of Judges better but to glean thought-shaping truths from it.

The book of Judges takes place in the time period following the death of Joshua and during the Jewish nation’s transitional period from tribal society to a monarchy. Judges gives us the picture of a community that attempts to lay its own foundation apart from God: foundations of control, comfort, greed, self-reliance and subjective morality. The primary message of Judges is that God will not allow sin to go unpunished.

MAJOR THEMES IN THE BOOK OF JUDGES

The search for genuine leadership
The disastrous consequences of compromise
God’s sovereignty over human affairs
God’s grace despite people’s rebellion and foolishness
